Little
Boltons
A
basement development by London based Newton Registered Basement Contractor
and London design and build basement specialist company Basement Force
- utilising John Newton & Co's Basement Waterproofing Products.

|
Originally a five story
house in West London, the developers discovered a bricked up space
below the ground floor and it was decided to excavate and create
a basement level to increase the floor area by an extra 100 sqm.
Rubble and earth were
removed from five rooms below the ground floor and it was underpinned
to secure the foundations. Newton
System 500 was used as the waterproofing solution. All five
rooms have had Newton Basedrain
installed at the wall/floor junction to intercept any water ingressing
at this weak point in a structure and draining round the perimeter
of the structure to a Newton Titan
pump system with two pumps installed. Insulation was applied to
the floor and Newton 500 membrane
placed above it as a waterproof barrier bringing the whole to
be level with the top of the Newton Basedrain to accept a minimum
50mm screed. Jetting eyes have also been installed to create a
maintainable system that complies with BS8102.

of the basement. |
| An
independent frame will be applied to the walls to accept insulated
dry-lining, plaster skim and decoration. The use of insulated dry-lining
is now common practice to comply with recent changes to building
regulations regarding improvements to the thermal properties of
habitable dwellings. However, this increases the risk of interstitial
condensation forming should the temperature of the internal face
of the membrane fall below the dew point. The use of our specially
designed Newton Basedrain prevents
any potential interstitial condensation from causing a problem. |
