September 2009 News

The latest edition of the RIBA publication Select profiled a John Newton waterproofing project prominently on its front cover. Newtons were contacted to convert an extensive basement area of a  beautiful Grade II listed Georgian manor house in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The area was converted from basic storage space into a large luxury apartment.

Newton Specialist Basement Contractor Advanced Preservation was commissioned at the design stage of the development to provide a robust and cost-effective waterproofing system to protect the property from the risk of water ingress.

As the property was listed, the waterproofing system specified needed to be sympathetic to the building fabric with no damaging preparation works. The Newton System 500 cavity drain system was successfully installed as a timely and cost-effective solution.

Key benefits included:

• Quick and easy to install, with no need for surface preparation
• Minimal drying out times, allowing the project to be completed on time
• A maintainable system with access ports into the internal Basedrain, a design requirement under BS 8102:1990
• The ability to combat and control water should it enter through the building fabric. The Newton System 500 does not trap moisture or water within the structure or push into previously dry areas of the structure
• 30 year manufacturer’s warranty and 10 year insured backed guarantee from Newton Specialist Basement Contractor Advanced Preservations
